Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to The Early Year’s Page.

Names on Property

There are over 110 children in our Foundation Stage so please ensure you have put your child’s name on their coat and clothes as things get mixed up. At home please help your child practise recognising their name so they are able to find their own jumper, coat etc and be able to hang it up on their name peg independently.

Messy Play

Just a reminder that in Foundation Stage the children are involved in lots of creative activities which can sometimes be messy. They do wear aprons when painting and using messy materials but sometimes they may get messy in spite of our best efforts.

Reading Books

Your child will be given a reading book to take home.  It would really help them and help us if you read with your child every day.  Don't forget to ask them questions about the book eg

  • Who is the main character?
  • What happened in the beginning/ middle/end?
  • What was your favourite part of the story?

Parental Contribution

Thank you to all the parents who have been contributing to their child's special books/learning journeys. Please continue to fill in 'Proud Parent' slips about your child's learning and achievements at home.

Celebrating in Early Years

We value our system of praise and reward very highly throughout Serlby Park Academy. On a daily basis, rewards will be stickers, stamps and house points. However, there are weekly rewards too.

Star of the Week

Each week we will choose a child from each class to be Star of the Week. They will be given a certificate during our celebration assembly.

Reader of the Week

Each week we will choose a child from each class to be Reader of the Week. They will be given a certificate during our celebration assembly.

Parental Contribution

Thank you to all the parents who have been contributing to our lovely display which highlights what your child has been learning and experiencing at home. Please continue to bring in your contributions which will make the display look even more fabulous.
